Safety First When it Comes to Swimming Pools

When designing your backyard oasis, you take pride in the beauty of your swimming pool. How disheartening to put up a fence to surround your pool when it just takes away from the natural beauty, right? Wrong! Always practice safety first when it comes to swimming pools. Having a pool safety fence is absolutely vital and is your responsibility as a homeowner to ensure the safety of others.

The best way to ensure safety first is to put the proper safety pool fence to keep outsiders safe. This could mean just by putting up a six foot fence around your entire backyard and ensure you lock the fence so outsiders can not get in. Most states do mandate the use of fences when you have an in-ground swimming pool, but many don’t have the same rules in place for above-ground pools. This is where putting up swimming pool safety fencing netting might not look appealing to the eye, but it does ensure some safety for others.

One of the most popular things on the market is actually an invisible fence. This is an infrared fence that sets an alarm off inside the house when the pool water surface has been broken. This might drive some people a little batty if the sensitivity is turned up very high as a small animal or ball going in can set off the alarm, but remember you must use safety first when it comes to swimming pools. Go outside and check the situation out if the alarm goes off because you never know when a child may have slipped under water.

No matter what type of swimming pool you have, pay attention to safety first over intristic details. It doesn’t matter how gorgeous your pool is if a child or even a stranger drowns. Besides, it wouldn’t be so beautiful to the homeowner at that point anyway. Remember safety first!
