So you want to buy a gift for your corporate world friend and would like to offer a practical gift for a businessman that will be treasured and remembered. Below we have complied a simple checklist you can use to approach this task thoroughly and increase your chances of giving a gift he will really love.

Here is the checklist:

•    Know your subject.  It is difficult to purchase an impressive gift for a businessman, unless you know his likes and dislikes.  If you do not know him well, try and ask for some tips from another friend or collegue.
•    Look beyond the businessman.  Just because he goes to work in a suit, does not mean that every present he receives has to be business related.  That is not to say that a present of a briefcase or an electronic organiser will not impress him, but be prepared to look beyond that.
•    Consider his fashion sense.  Is he a stylish dresser?  Does he look groomed all of the time?  Or does he look like someone who, even though he is wearing a suit throughout the day, would rather be slumming it in a pair of jeans and T-shirt.  If he does like his fashion, then clothes, shoes and cosmetics are options.
•    Does he love crazy gadgets?   Lots of men do, including businessmen.  You may disapprove of the fact that he loves these silly and possibly useless things, but if he does, then it is a gift for him you are getting and the fact that you will buy him one will really make him happy.
•    Do online research.  The internet is a great place to find all sorts of suggestions of gifts for businessmen.  Look at sites like http://postdelicious.com for ideas.  You may end up purchasing locally, but you will have the opportunity online to get ideas and to compare prices.
