Learning How to Jump Higher

In the process of learning how to jump higher you need to understand that training for jumping is not the same as training for muscle gain.  You don’t have to have big muscular legs to jump high.  In fact you can actually hinder your jumping ability if you build huge muscles because those muscles will have a lot of slow twitch fibers.  You want to develop more of the fast twitch muscles in your legs if you want to jump higher.  You go about doing this by training with plyometric exercises.  You will become very familiar with the word plyometrics when you are trying to jump higher.  But you do need to have muscle strength before you even begin a jump program so that you don’t run into injury.
