Laser Hair Restoration

There is a new method to supposedly grow regrow hair that is making a splash in the hair restoration community.  It is supposedly based on low level laser light technology.  Which is nice except there is no such thing.  A light emitting device is either a laser or it isn’t.  What this appears to be is a bunch of multicolored LEDs with a pretty name.  LED stands for light emitting diode which is not the same as a semiconductor laser.

Part of the confusion lies in the fact that lasers are used for dermatology reason and as a method to remove unwanted hairs.  A pulse of light has enough energy to remove the hair for good.  Laser hair restoration on the other hand is supposed to help the hair grow instead of killing it.
