As we all know, even though futons and futon mattresses are known for their durability and flexibility, both in quality and in design, they still are prone to dust, dirt, grime and other harmful particles, such as stains and spills. In most cases, they can easily be cleaned, but, with constant exposure comes the chance that they can never be taken of. Remember, accumulation of dust and dirt will take its toll on the overall quality of the mattress, as well as constant exposure to spills and stains. As to why, buying a futon cover is really important.

A futon cover can be made out of different materials, with different themes, designs, and most especially, sizes. Their most important role is to protect the mattress, such as in the case of futon bunk beds and futon sofa beds, from harmful particles, such as dust and grime, as well as stains and spills. To add to that, most covers are water-resistant or even water-proof, which makes them more equipped to handle any kind of exposure to water, which, as we all know, is hazardous to the overall quality of the futon mattress. Aside from being the traditional cover, futon covers also have various designs, so, they can add to the overall aesthetic appeal of the futon furniture, which is definitely a huge plus, considering that most covers, are just well, covers.

All in all, having a futon cover takes the hassle out of cleaning the mattress as often as possible. It also makes sure that the futon mattress will last for years and years to come. However, they still have to be cleaned though, but, on a much less regular basis. They are fairly easy to clean, considering that most have zippers, and if somehow, it is damaged beyond repair, it can be replaced anytime.
