Good Travel Books

For tens of thousands of years cultures the world over were past down from generation to generation via stories told over the campfire. Now, in a different time and a different world it’s now clear that there will always be a place in society for sharing stories especially stories of adventure and interesting experiences. As such, there will always be a place in society for travel stories…but that doesn’t mean there will always be a place for travel books at large. Already it’s clear that the guide books are losing favor with the more technologically advance travelers, and with good reason. With print dates often being months, if not years behind a travelers arrival at a new destination it’s not unusual for entire sections of a guide book to be completely out of date. More importantly, with the proliferation of the internet it’s easier than ever to rectify that problem with no more than a few keystrokes in everyone’s favorite search engine. And if it’s that easy to find one piece of information then why do we need to carry around that book full of largely unnecessary information in the first place? Run for the web, travelers!
