There are many types of tanning lotions and can be categorized in a number of ways. First there are outdoor and indoor tanning lotions. Knowing which of the two is simply based on whether or not you will be using a tanning bed. Indoor tanning lotions are designed not to damage the tanning bed acrylic surfaces and can be used outdoors. Outdoor tanning lotion is not to be used in tanning beds because the ingredients containing mineral oils might cause problems to the tanning bed. Then there are different types of lotions based on the strategy used to accelerate the tanning process. Accelerators are the most common and simply offer moisturizing to keep the skin hydrated while including minerals and amino acids believed to boost melanin production. Tingle lotion causes increased blood flow to the skin which is supposed to help the tanning process.
