Exhilarating Everest Base Camp Trek

While there is no doubt that an Everest Base Camp Trek is extremely challenging, it is also a thrilling adventure. You need to be in good shape physically, of course, and you also need some experience in mountain climbing, but the thrill of trekking in the region makes it worth all the effort it entails.

Most people start off from the Lukla airport in Nepal. From there, trekkers make their way through one village after another until they reach the Everest Base camp. It will take over a week to make the journey, with some treks lasting fourteen days or more depending on which direction they take. Trekkers also need to rest in the villages from time to time, to give their body time to adjust to the higher altitudes they encounter along the way.

When preparing for the trip you will want to research what items you will need to take with you. Naturally, you will need plenty of very warm clothing, sunscreen and sunglasses, hats, gloves and good trekking boots. Some suggest taking a down sleeping bag too, as while blankets are provided at the places you will stay at along the way, they are not always in that great condition.

You have the alternative of signing on with a tour group or simply going to the area and then hiring your own tour guide once there. Unlike the Inca Trail, where you are required to hire an Inca Trail Trek guide, it is not essential to have a guide for this trip; though hiring both a guide and a porter is recommended.

Going on an organized tour is quite a bit more expensive than making your own way once there. Expect to pay anywhere from $3,000 up, depending on the tour length, for a tour. These can usually be booked directly through a travel agent, or you can book online.

For most people the expense is well worth it, especially giving the overall exhilaration and sense of fulfillment that comes from completing such a challenging trek. For many it is a once in a lifetime experience that cannot be missed.

How Does It Work Then?

The tanning bulbs in the indoor tanning beds emit almost 98% UVB–the rays that tan us. The thing is, they are shallow penetrating and unless we give them a helping hand they we won’t get as dark as we want. UVB rays need to react with a protein pigment in our skin called melanin. If they can do this, we have ourselves a tan. Melanin is responsible for skin tone and if you have a lot of this pigment in your skin–some people have more than others–than you will tan easier. How To Get Started In The Hobby Of Gold Panning

It’s hard to believe but the price of gold today is over $1300 an ounce.  If you’ve ever been interested in learning how to pan for gold whether it be for fun or for profit, now is the perfect time to learn.  Financial analysts expect the price of gold to rise even more in the months and years to come.  The hobby of panning for gold can be quite fun and lucrative.

If you would like to give gold panning a try, you will be relieved to know that it doesn’t cost much money you get started in this hobby.  All you need are some basic tools such as a shovel, a gold pan, a plastic bottle for sucking the gold out of the pan (called a snuffer bottle), a small plastic bottle to store the gold that you find and a couple of other odds and ends that really don’t cost much money.  You probably even have some of the things that you will need to get started enjoying this hobby at home already.

You can learn to pan for gold in many different ways but I would recommend that you join an organization called Gold Prospectors Association Of America.  It will only cost $67.50 to sign your whole family up with GPAA.  Your subscription will include a year’s subscription to their bimonthly magazine as well as everything you need to get started in the hobby of gold panning.

The best advice I can give you about how to find gold is to look where other people have already found gold.  The way to know where other people are finding gold is to find out where the registered gold mining claims in your state are.  There is a web site called www.goldmapsonline.com that sells gold maps that will show you the exact location of every gold mining claim in your state very affordable prices.  I live in Utah so I bought their Utah gold panning maps. You can look at these maps and find out exactly where other people are finding gold and then you will know where to look as well.

Have you been lured in by the possible advantages of using an automatic fly reel? You may be tired of using a single or multiple fly reels to catch different species of fish. The automatic fly reel offers you the ability to manage the fishing line with the click of a button. This makes the process of casting and reeling a breeze. How to Enjoy Camping

Camping is a great activity that can take you into the outdoors at any time of year.  Even if you don’t have a lot of experience, there are many aspects of camping that are welcoming to newcomers.  You don’t have to be an expert to enjoy the feeling of fresh air and beautiful scenery.  It always helps to do some research beforehand, and have some knowledge of first aid as well.  Anything can happen out in the woods so it’s always best to be prepared for emergency situations.  You should also make sure to obey the posted rules of any campsite, and keep the needs of others in mind.  Here are some other things to remember in order to make your camping trip as fun as possible.

Always keep a good inventory of all of your camping supplies.  Whether you are bringing a Katadyn camping water filter, flashlights, or an air mattress, you need to keep track of all your equipment.  If you are camping with a vehicle then you will have the luxury of carrying more supplies.  If not, you have to be more frugal with what you choose to take along on your trip.  Remember that fancier does not always equal better, so always the give priority to important basic supplies.  Don’t forget about simple things like sunscreen and insect repellent.

Your tent is going to be one of the most important things you bring along on your trip.  It is possible to buy cheap tents online in addition to higher end products as well.  In general, you want to purchase the best product that you can afford taking into account space and durability.  Your tent is responsible for sheltering you from the elements so make sure to pick a good product and learned how to set it up properly.

One of the most versatile equipments to have around when on a camping trip is a head torch. A lamp with an elastic, adjustable band that is easily strapped around the head, a head torch gives illumination while at the same time frees up the hands to do other stuff.

The head lamp comes in a variety of styles and features. Most are inexpensive but made of poor quality, which is not the kind of lamp you may need for heavy duty action. One of the most popular yet reasonably priced brands is Petzl Tikka, which sells for about $25 a piece. Petzl Tikka is lightweight, has 3 LED lights, runs on 3 AAA batteries, and is also water resistant.

Camping trips may sound a jolly way to spend some family time together but it does involve hard work, like moving around in the dark while setting up camp. A head torch may also come in handy during cave explorations and if you want to avoid tripping up and hurting yourself in the dark. A head torch is definitely something you may need to avoid accidents or worse during nature trips alone or with your family. Head torches may also work for bikers (just strap it around your bike helmet) and joggers, who may need it for the safety and security it provides.

Camping is a great activity for your whole family to enjoy but it is not an activity that is to be taken lightly when it comes to the preparation that goes into planning a camping trip.  One thing that needs to be taken into consideration is the size of your tent and big tents are always better unless of course you are backpacking over long distances alone!  A large tent is especially important if there will be more than three people in your camping party and here are some of the reasons why:

  1. Large tents will ensure that you and your guests have enough room to be comfortable while sleeping in the tent.
  2. You want there to be enough room to also store clothing and camping gear.
  3. The more room there is, the better the air quality in the tent.  It will not get too hot and stuffy if there is extra room.
  4. Big camping tents look more threatening to wild animals so they will stay away from you and your family.

There are many types of these tents available on the market and just as many places to buy them.  They come in all colors and styles.  Some have multiple rooms for added privacy and others are just a large open space.  Some have extra pickets and flaps for various reasons and there are some that are made specifically for certain types of weather such as rain and wind.  When it comes to brands, there are many to choose from such as Coleman, Sierra Designs, TexSport and Swiss Gear.  These tents and many other brands of large family tents can be purchased in most department stores and specialty sporting goods stores.  Of course the price of your tent will depend on where you buy it and what brand you buy but you can get a decent one for as little as one hundred dollars.  Some of the top tents available can cost up to five-hundred dollars.
