There are some many different types of gold and silver on the market today that finding cheap silver jewelry can be a daunting enterprise. Silver has recently become a very popular choice for jewelry buyers looking for cheap silver designs simple because of the economic downturn that has emptied the pockets of most other metals have tripled in price while silver has stayed relatively stable. The rapid advances in jewelry machining technology has made is relatively easy to create some fantastically beautiful pieces.

How much you will spend when shopping for cheap silver creations depends on several factors. The first is the type of silver. If you choose sterling silver you will pay quite a bit less than you will for 925 silver. Also if you get some Mexican silvers known for not only the quality of the silver but the superior workmanship of the craftsmen in Mexico you will probably pay a higher price, unless of course you go to México, know Spanish well and are good at bargaining. A much easier way to find cheap silver accessories is to use your computer online and find the best deals from around the world. The good thing about using the internet is that you are first able to learn a great deal about silver and its different qualities and grades. Also the historical uses of silver. When it comes to jewelry for women you will find many styles that use the heart shape in the design. In the category of heart bracelets you will find a few different ways the heart image is incorporated into the design of the piece. The most common style uses a chain link as the main section of the bracelet. The heart comes attached to a link as a separate pendant or charm. A variation on this design will have the heart used as parts of the link with small open hearts being connected by sections of chain all around the bracelet.

A very elegant style of bracelet with a heart design is the bezel bracelet. This has an entire ring of cubic zirconium stones creating the bracelet piece with a single heart in cubic zirconium adorning the top. Another design using CZ stones has them placed at strategic points in a silver setting that consists of small bars connecting each stone. There is a very romantic style that uses red CZ stones with marcasite encircling the piece in tiny heart shapes. Most of the designs using CZ to enhance the bracelet will use sterling silver as the base metal in creating the item.

The various sterling bracelets can be enhanced by wearing a matching set of silver earrings. You can find many styles of earrings that also use hearts as the main focal point. These can also be found with real gemstones including sapphires, rubies and diamonds. A popular stone often used in the setting for earrings made of silver is turquoise. This natural colored stone will be found in various shades of blue with marbled veins running through it. Turquoise is also used to design many bracelets, necklaces, cuff links and belt buckles. Whatever your personal taste in jewelry may be you are sure to find a shape, style, color and stone to add to your collection.

The amethyst is a precious stone which is derived from quartz crystals of considerable hardness. On Mohs scale of hardness this stone is given the value of 7, 3 points lower than the hardest stone which is the diamond. On account of this durability, amethyst rings are more frequently made of yellow or white gold. One may also find amethyst gems set in platinum and silver.

Needless to say, the stone, though not as expensive as the diamond is regarded as precious and has been used as jewelry since the 100 b.c. Cleopatra herself reportedly owned a beautiful amethyst ring. The first stone known to have adorned the royal crown jewels in England was the amethyst in 11th century England. Elizabeth I of England owned a highly valued amethyst necklace.

The amethyst ennobles its wearer and grants her the power to focus on and balance her personality. It is said to cure all forms of mental disturbance, whatever its cause. At the same time that it grants peace of mind, it helps the wearer to be intuitive and use the higher logic of his mind.

Garnet, on the other hand is derived from aluminum/calcium silicate minerals found in various types of rocks. The gem stone is red to reddish brown in color. It is a hard stone, with a Mohs scale rating of 6 – 7.5. It has a good transparency when polished .

This stone is one of the oldest gem stones. It was already used as jewelry during the Bronze Age. It was also widely popular among Roman soldiers because it is believed to have curative properties as well as the power to ward off evil. Garnet is also thought to promote friendship and a person wearing a garnet ring is attractive to others. Of course, whether or not she can actually make friends of her new acquaintances depends entirely on her personality.

Finding Unique Ruby Rings

If you are looking for unique ruby rings, there are basically two ways to find them. You can look for a unique setting, or a unique stone (or, combine both if you want something extra special).

Finding a special stone is perhaps more difficult. You will probably want to look for real ruby rings that use natural stones and may have a color cast or inclusion that make them unique, but be prepared to pay a premium for a mined natural ruby.

All rubies are “real.” Man-made rubies are now called “lab created” rather than “synthetic.” The term synthetic implies made out of a different material or by a different process. But, lab-created rubies have the same chemical composition and crystal structure as a natural ruby, except they are created in a laboratory rather than found in nature.

Rubies are aluminum oxide that has been heated to form crystals. The characteristic color comes from metallic impurities in the matrix. Crystals that are not ruby-colored are called sapphires, and come in many different colors.

Natural rubies are found in many places, but most are mined in Myanmar; the southeast Asian country formerly called Burma. Myanmar is politically unstable, so the prices of rubies are volatile.

Both natural and lab-created rubies are irregular in shape and must be cut to make jewelry. Over the centuries, the shapes to reflect light best from various gemstones have been refined so that a unique cut may produce the result you want.

Finding a unique setting is easier with On-line stores having large selections of different settings from which you can choose. Or, for a truly unique ring, you can have a setting custom made specially for your needs. Jewelry artists can carve a one-of-a-kind ring from wax and cast it in gold. If you pick a natural stone, it makes sense to show it off with a special ring made just for you.
