Mesothelioma and Finding Answers To Your Questions

Filed under: Conditions and Diseases,Health & Fitness — Tags: , , , — PublishersLeagueAdmin @ 9:14 pm

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that forms on the protective lining that encases many of the organs in the human body. The most common place for this form of cancer to form and spread is on the lining of the lungs and the most common cause of this particular disease is prolonged exposure to asbestos.

Since asbestos was discovered as a contributor to cancer the use of it in buildings has been largely discontinued but the removal of the substance can be a long and costly process. Because of this there is a chance that you or someone you know can still be exposed to asbestos without prior knowledge. The sad fact is that there has been many a mesothelioma lawsuit filed because people didnt understand that they were living or working in a potential danger zone.

Most people dont go to their office jobs every day thinking that they are inhaling a product that could be making them sick as they sit and go about their day. Mesothelioma lawyers have made great hay about the fact that there simply are not enough warnings issued to people who may be working in an older building that has asbestos spores flowing through their vents.

Asbestos is also dangerous because even though they are well trained in safety precautions the men and women whose job it is to remove the deadly substance can develop the disease. Just one spore from an asbestos pad can cause the disease to fester and grow and before the worker knows it they are incredibly sick. Perhaps the scariest thing about the disease is that it carries an incredibly poor prognosis when it is diagnosed. It is important to remember to get yourself checked out often if you believe you might have been exposed to asbestos as with all forms of cancer it is better to catch it early in order to have a real fighting chance.

Asthma and Acid Reflux

About sixty to sixty-five percent of infants will suffer from a condition referred to as acid reflux or gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD). Although acid reflux is really uncomfortable and bothersome for the young child, in many cases, the baby will simply outgrow this condition. Then again, it will surely give the parents a pretty hard time pacifying their distraught babies.

Overview of Acid Reflux and Infants

- Acid reflux is a condition that is marked by the regurgitation or back flow of stomach acids as well as foods into the esophagus, throat and mouth. Many medical experts believe that it occurs because of the undeveloped digestive system of the baby, especially that of the lower esophageal sphincter which acts like a valve that keeps the gastric acids and other stomach contents intact inside the tummy. The usual signs and symptoms of this condition include frequent wet burps, persistent crying, bad breath, coughing, excessive drooling, spitting, vomiting, rapid weight loss and/or poor weight gain, difficulty swallowing and sinus or ear infection. Respiratory problems like wheezing and hoarseness of voice are also considered symptoms.

Treatment Guide for Acid Reflux in Infants

- In mild cases, most pediatricians would suggest simple measures in order to ease the symptoms of this condition. In serious cases, certain medications would be prescribed by the pediatrician. Such medications include acid blockers, antacids and acid suppressors. Then again, most of the time, simple measures may already prove enough to alleviate the discomfort and pain experienced by your baby. One good sample of a natural cure for acid reflux in infants involves modifying their feeding habits. For instance, instead of feeding your baby the traditional three large meals, you will be asked to give the baby smaller but frequent meals all throughout the day. Keeping the child upright for about twenty to thirty minutes or so post feeding and then helping him/her burp can also help.

How To Treat Anxiety With Ease

When you suffer from anxiety, nothing else really matters. It consumes your every thought and you start to become uninterested in everything else. You can’t see any way around your anxiety problems and all you can do is focus on how much they are crippling your life rather than dealing with them. Dealing with these problems are actually really easy and you don’t need to have a lot of energy to do it. Here is how to treat anxiety with ease.

When we talk about anxiety people don’t really understand what it means. I find the best way to describe anxiety is as a great big black cloud. IT follows you everywhere so you can’t help but think about it. It is there while you sleep and when you are awake, all the time dripping on you to irritate you and make you aware of its presence. This black cloud never gets smaller if you ignore it. It doesn’t go away with the wind, you have to physically do something about it in order for it to go. But you know as an anxiety sufferer that its hard to find the space in your head to workout what to do about this cloud. It consumes your every thoughts so when you are told you have to think of a way around it, it seems impossible. This is where journaling comes in.

Journaling is a way to get the thoughts out of your head so that you don’t have to worry about them for a while. What you have to do is to get a journal or writing jotter, write down the worries and make some space in your mind. It may take a few days first to notice the difference but you should write down all your concerns and how you feel about them. You could even go on to say what the worst case scenario would be if these worries came true and how they would affect you. By writing it all down you can get it out and feel that you can shut your worries away of a night time and get a peaceful nights sleep. When you have had some peace then you can decide how to tackle these anxieties and deal with them properly. This is also a method used when learning how to treat panic attacks and can really help you to face your phobias. Journaling can give you a bit of breathing space so why not give it a go today? You have nothing to lose other than that great big black cloud hanging over you.

PDD-NOS Symptoms– Know what it is and Help your child

Filed under: Conditions and Diseases — damon @ 9:50 am

When a child shows several signs of autism, but does not meet the criteria for positive autism pediatrician usually give a diagnosis of Pervasive Development Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). This would mean that it is milder than autism. Children having this condition have some developmental delay, although it may vary from one child to another.

Different symptoms may be manifested by each child having this condition. These symptoms may be manifested at very early ages. An infant, who should normally establish eye contact and cuddles when carried, may not show these social skills for their age. Children may even show abnormal Comfortability being isolated from others. A child may not even be bothered by their parents leaving or playing by themselves.

Children having a mild form of PDD-NOS Symptoms may be able to grow closer to the parents or others that are often around them, but are having troubles making new friends. They may find it hard to socialize with new people. They may have a difficult time getting to know another person and making friends with them.

Communications skills may be impaired and may become a problem of the child. Mostly, this manifestation of the condition is not observed until the child is older. An infant may not try to make sounds during infancy; parents may interpret this as positive. The parents may think this as a good thing, thinking their child must be behaved. They may be unable to recognize this as part of the symptoms of the condition.

Another problem in communication may be the difficulty to learn new words. Children may have a hard time learning new vocabulary. Facial expressions and voice intonation may not be well understood by children diagnosed with PDD-NOS symptoms. They may not be able to understand the difference in what is meant by words used with different voice intonations. There is also a dwelling on constant topic that they like, they will repeatedly talk about the things they like and may not give any attention to new things introduced to them.

Emotional expressions for children with this kind of diagnosis may be in the extremes. Anger may be expressed through outbursts and frequent temper tantrums. Also other emotions like fear, sadness and happiness are also extremely showed.

Different assessments may be done to the person diagnosed with this kind of condition. Medical assessment may be done to rule out any health deficit that may be the cause if the manifested symptoms. Other assessments may include the educational aspect, psychological aspect and communication aspect to name a few. After the assessments are done, then specific treatment for the patient may be developed to meet the needs.

Cough in children’s is an irritating thing for them as well as the parents. Adults who get cough know what care they will require for the cough but children’s doesn’t know and most of the time they don’t understand the need of it. Giving a complete bed rest to them is also very difficult due to their activeness. It’s very hard for me to keep my children’s in home in case they are having some allergies coughing. In children’s cough is divided into two normal type’s acute cough and the chronic cough.

Cough Causes

Acute Cough: In the most cases in children’s the cause of the coughing is the viral upper respiratory tract infection. There are many different viruses which can cause the infection in the children’s. It is always better to check with the doctors for medication requirements as many times it will not be required.

Sinus Disease: Postnasal drip because of the rhinitis or sinusitis is a common cause of the cough and can become chronic if not treated early. The common symptoms of this are runny nose and nasal congestion. Sinus allergy relief is necessary for many children’s as it can affect their day work badly and put them on bed rest.

We can use following ways to keep the children’s in the home in case of the cough;

1)      I wouldn’t recommend too much play of video game but if it is that takes to do to keep the children’s in the home I do that.

2)      If you can too take a day off do that because if you are in home children will definitely keep their self in home. Another advantage of this is that you will be able to spend some quality time with them.

3)      You can play some indoor games if they like them like business, mad game all are famous and may be children’s will rediscover the joy of playing them.

Hemorrhoids: Good News and Bad News

There’s good news and bad news when it comes to hemorrhoids. The good news is that the pain and discomfort from hemorrhoids can usually be helped with a few simple steps including an improved diet, changing bathroom habits and using non-prescription creams to reduce swelling, control itching and help with pain. Hemorrhoids are rated on a grading scale from I to IV with IV being the worst case scenario. The vast majority of people with hemorrhoids that will never get above grade I, which is fortunate because this makes it pretty easy to manage, however once they get to a more serious grade II or above, more aggressive treatment including surgery may be the only option. This is one reason why it’s important to improve your diet with more fiber, get examined and discuss your symptoms with a doctor, you want to catch and treat your hemorrhoids before they get worse.

Now for the bad news about hemorrhoids – unfortunately there is no hemorrhoid cure, no quick fix, no pill to make it all go away. The reality is that although the symptoms of hemorrhoids can be minimized, hemorrhoids themselves have a tendency to come back, even after hemroid surgery; the reoccurrence rate is quite high. The reoccurrence rate with Doppler Guided Arterial Ligation is 12% following the 3 years after the procedure while the reoccurrence rate with rubber band is even higher, about 25% over the same time frame. Reoccurrence depends on a variety of factors including how serious the initial grade of hemorrhoids, what procedure is done, whether the patient has a healthy diet and practices good bathroom habits.

The best thing you can do as a hemorrhoid sufferer, besides talking to a doctor, is to start improving your diet with the addition of more fiber. A poor diet is thought to be the main cause of hemorrhoids in the US. Yes, there are other things that can also lead to hemorrhoids such as pregnancy, obesity and genetics, but without a doubt, constipation and straining while using the bathroom is the main cause, so it’s in your best interest to start improving your diet today.

What are The Symptoms of Asbestos Poisoning?

Asbestos poisoning occurs when a person accidentally inhaled or ingested particles of this highly toxic material. These fibers are mostly microscopically small. Once the substance found its way into a person’s system, it can have a devastating effect on his health and may ultimately lead to one’s death. Most of the time, people are completely unaware if they exposed themselves to asbestos. They don’t notice that the air they were breathing in might have been asbestos-laden. Further to that, signs of asbestos poisoning do typically not occur instantly, which is normally the case when a person gets into contact with other toxic substances.

Asbestos particles and fibers are mostly lingering in invisible clouds of dust within the air. So practically impossible to get notice of them unless you have testing done by someone who with the adequate gear, typically an asbestos testing company. The actual medical condition of asbestos poisoning is defined by the body’s incapability to expel the toxic substance naturally. Asbestos poisoning symptoms are signs of a person being or getting diagnoses with diseases like Asbestosis, Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma. Asbestosis is a disease that basically hinders the lungs from performing normally. The toxic particles of the material attach themselves to the lung tissue which hardens gradually. The lungs become inflexible and therefore they can’t absorb the normal amount of oxygen. As the disease keeps progressing the capacity of the lungs diminishes accordingly. Mesothelioma is different. It is a cancer that starts developing in the so called mesothelium which is a very thin lining that surrounds the inside of the chest and numerous other organs of the abdomen. Mesothelioma is treatable; however, it carries a rather poor prognosis. It is also the most common form of asbestos induced diseases.

Very similar to Mesothelioma is Lung Cancer. All three of the aforementioned medical conditions have an unusually long latency period. Between the time a person initially was exposed to asbestos and the first sings of asbestos poisoning manifest, two, three or even four decades might have possibly passed. This is why we often hear of retirees filing asbestos lawsuits claims. It might have been in there late twenties when they have been in contact with the material while working on their jobs, for example in the asbestos manufacturing industry or on construction sites – and only now and decades later, they developed an asbestos induced illness. Also, the symptoms of asbestos poisoning can be similar to those of other medical conditions such as COPD, for example.
And apparently, this makes the diagnosis of either of the diseases we just talked about very tricky. It is not uncommon, that someone has already developed a severe problem with his health before the first signs of asbestos poisoning surfaced.

Manic Depressive Disorder and Psychotic Features

Almost 2% of all US citizens will experience Bipolar Disorder. This is a disorder which both has depression and manic features. A patient will experience intermittent episodes of depression and mania/hypomania. Between episodes a person will often feel normal and there will not be anything to notice.

Depression

In almost all cases this disorder will first start with an episode of depression. That is why so many patients are diagnosed with primary depression instead of bipolar disorder because it will only become bipolar when a patient will experience manic episodes in the future. When experiencing depression, a person will feel really sad and he will believe that his situation is hopeless. It is not just a matter about feeling a little bit sad for a while, but it is feeling sad for at least 3 months which prevents normal functioning in society.

Mania and Hypomania

Bipolar depression is a mood disorder and both extremes are out of balance. In an episode of depression a person will feel really sad and depressed, but in an episode if mania a person will feel extremely good. He will feel he can take on the entire world and will succeed in all that he undertakes. Although this may sound great, a person can get himself in dangerous situations and do harm to himself. He will also not care about his finances and shop for everything that he likes and wants.

Hypomania

But a person will not always feel extremely well about himself, in some cases he will feel extremely annoyed about everything. Instead of feeling great he will feel annoyed about small thing and might even react aggressively. He could shout or hit someone in an act he would otherwise not do.

Psychotic features

In some cases a manic or hypomanic episode can become a psychosis. When this happens a person will lose all contact with the real world and will live in a world of his own. He might experience hallucinations and see people walking that are not really there. Psychotic patients often experience anxiety because they feel they are endangered. The only way to reduce these symptoms is by giving medication. When a person experiences psychotic episodes it is called manic depressive disorder with psychotic features.

Gout is Painful, But Remedies are Available

Gout can be a very painful condition. It can come from complications with other health related issues, such as diabetes, but it has also been shown to be hereditary. Luckily, there are a number of different types of remedies for gout. The first area of focus when taking about cures for gout is diet. Are you consuming high amounts of food that contribute to gout? Alcohol can play major role as well. Obesity, taking insulin, and even excessive amount of aspirin have also been known to contribute. Other common precursors are recent surgeries, joint injuries, or a problems with high blood pressure. So what causes the pain and swelling? Gout is caused by the crystallization of uric acid in the body. If there is a high level of uric acid, it begins to form crystallized deposits that form in areas of the bottom. The most common areas are the extremities, especially the lower ones. Foods that promote the condition include;

Red meat

Organ type meats such as liver

Shellfish

Creamy sauces

Anchovies

And alcohol

So what are some of the gout remedies? A simple, cheap, and effective remedy is water. Yes… drinking at least 6 to 8 glasses of water every day will help flush the uric acid out of the body. Adding a lemon to the water can be beneficial as well. Dairy products are another common way to deal with the symptoms of gout. Exercise and physical activity are great for just about any health condition, and gout is no exception. Try to get 30 minutes a day of moderate exercise, and you will begin to see a serious improvement in effect that gout has on you. There are prescription medicines that are available. In serious cases, these are almost always the number one option, but they come with negative side effects and a hefty price tag in many cases.
