It’s pretty clear that Adsense over at Google have been changing things. I have been watching the net pretty closely and a lot of people have been saying how their adsense earnings haven’t been doing very well recently.
One of the problems I think has been the advent of the new Google Adsense keyword tool. It was a long time in the beta testing phase, and I think that a lot of people were hoping that maybe it would fail. I too wasn’t too keen on the tool. At first it was just confusing and I wanted to avoid it. Then they shut down the old tool and I and a few friends took some time stressing over the fact that related keywords had suddenly become a lot harder to find. Thankfully that little hurdle is over, and Google seem to have changed the tool so that it will work again and spit out the kind of information I need for blogging.
The other problem that people have mentioned is that the information Google uses is different. Keywords that people thought were going to make a good amount of money now are not going to do so. Again, I don’t mind. Accuracy is actually better because you can invest your time more logically and beneficially. In the old days – like a few months ago – you had to just go for as many keywords as possible because some just didn’t work out. My experience now is that the click through value is much more what Google is projecting.
So I am still being successful online, and the Google changes haven’t affected me. I still track my income using best free home accounting software and it is showing that my earnings are increasing month on month.
And just in case you thought everything was safe…Google went and changed the reporting tool yesterday! Great, another learning curve!
