I have a friend who is obsessed with the modern look and all of the furniture in his home is black and white. One thing that he has been struggling with is his breakfast nook furniture. A black breakfast nook set is not very common because most people associate this room of the house with light and try to keep it upbeat. To help solve his dilemma, I suggested he buy a wrought iron table and chair set with a glass table top. The table legs are made of iron painted black and they support a glass table top that adds no color to the furniture. The chairs are also iron and he has added thin black cushions to the seats so that they are a bit more comfortable to sit on. The black breakfast nook set has met his color requirements for furniture but it is very hard to keep clean. The glass table top gets marked and smudged every time we sit at the table. It is a good thing he is a bachelor that eats most of his meals on the couch.
