Are your kids into video games? Well, some of the best Christmas toys this year will be motion control video game accessories. The Wii definitely was insanely popular with many children, so Microsoft and Sony want to get in on some of that action for their Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Each of these companies is coming out with a new accessory for their systems that will allow you to play motion control games. Here is a little bit about each of the accessories.
Microsoft is coming out with Kinect for their Xbox 360. kinect is a camera that you will play in front of your TV, that will be able to see and track all of your movements. You will not need to hold onto any remote controls, and you will not need to use any type of dance mat or board. You’ll simply move your body around and use your voice to control the games. Yes, Kinect has voice recognition capabilities so your kids will be able to talk to their video games and interact in a whole new way. There are quite a few games that are coming out that will utilize the Kinect control scheme, and it will work with any Xbox 360 that has been sold. It will be a new experience, and one that your kids will enjoy for sure.
Sony’s Move controllers for the Playstation 3 will utilize the EyeToy and will be a remote much like the Nintendo Wii remote that will allow you to control games in a whole new way. The features 1:1 movement ratio, and can even judge distance from the screen (something the Nintendo Wii can not do). You will have to buy the EyeToy if you do not already have it, as well as the number of the Move remotes that you will want your kids to have. I would recommend at least 2. Then, there is a secondary remote attachment, much like the nunchuck add on for the Wii controller.
Motion control devices will dominate the Christmas toys lists of 2010.
