The bad news about cellulite is that the majority of women will have it to some degree after the age of 25. The good news is that its appearance can be reduced with the right treatment. Unfortunately, there are many anti cellulite products available to purchase and most of these treatments simply don’t cut the mustard. Frankly, the treatments that over promise and under deliver are snake oil designed to prey on the insecurities of women.
Just a cursory glance at the anti cellulite product range should send a warning that you need to be careful with your money. For example, anti cellulite shape-wear is marketed as an easy and natural cellulite removal product. Simply wear this undergarment and the fat cells in your body will heat up, rupture and then be expelled by your body. Nice in theory but there is no scientific basis for it and any weight you do lose is probably water weight from excess sweating.
There are several treatments that do work, however. Here is a brief look at some of the more popular remedies:
- Laser treatment for cellulite: there are several laser machines made specifically for cellulite but TriActive by Cynosure is the currently the most popular cellulite laser. The system is conducted in a cosmetic clinic and involves a combination of laser and massage. You can see results in as little as 8 sessions but will require monthly follow-ups indefinitely to maintain the results.
- Cellulite cream: lotions often get a bad rap but they can be very effective for mild or moderate cellulite. Women with more severe cellulite should try other options. A tub can cost between $30 to $300. The better creams tend to be more costly but are worth the investment. Anti cellulite lotions aren’t a cure – you will need to continue their use indefinably to keep any gains.
- Cosmetic surgery: while it has its risks, plastic surgery can be a permanent way to get rid of cellulite. There are a number of options that you can choose from including fat transplants, liposuction, cellulite lysing and lower body lifts.
